The Fever Thunder Concept
Joining the new Fever range is the Thunder bass, my first original bass design. Like the rest of the Fever family, the Thunder blends two of my biggest design influences: the bold optimism of 1950s American styling and the eccentric character of 1970s Japanese boutique instruments.
The Thunder pairs a lightweight American Lime body with generous comfort carves, a versatile hand-wound P/J pickup combination and a rock-solid Canadian hard maple neck with a comfortable 41mm nut width. I wanted it to sit somewhere between a Precision and a Jazz Bass, combining the growl and jangle of a Precision with the attack and percussiveness of a Jazz Bass, whilst providing a Goldilocks neck that's not too fat, not too skinny... just right. Add in that beautifully scooped middle position where all the slaps and pops live, and the Thunder captures the playful spirit that defines the Fever range whilst delivering the resonance, reliability and style that every great bass should have.

About West Valley
My name is Josh Stopford and I founded West Valley Guitars in 2018.
I hand build boutique electric guitars in my workshop in Somerset, UK.
My guitars are hand crafted to the highest standard. No CNC. All handmade. I also wind my own pickups.
My premier model, The Indiana, received critical acclaim in early 2026 with a 9/10 from Guitarist Magazine and 4.5 stars from Guitar World.
